Approximate driving distance: 100 kmOnce you land at Keflavik airport, collect your luggage and go through customs. Collect your rental car at the airport and continue to your hotel.Depending on your arrival time in Iceland, you could take advantage of a stop at the Blue Lagoon spas, where you can relax in its renowned waters. Important: the entrance to the Blue Lagoon must be booked in advance (we can help you with this too!).Drive along the southern coast of the Reykjanes peninsula to Hveragerdi, a pleasant village where the first overnight stay is scheduled. This village is one of the few in the world located on a geothermal area whose hot springs serve to heat the numerous flower greenhouses (hence the name "flower village" that is given to Hveragerdi). The location offers various opportunities for wellness activities and several typical restaurants, such as the one where different dishes are cooked outdoors directly by the heat of the geothermal springs!Check-in at most hotels starts between 14:00 and 16:00.

We suggest a visit to the Lava Center, a highly technological interactive educational exhibition on volcanic activity, earthquakes and Icelandic formation. It will give you a broad overview of what are the characteristics of Icelandic volcanism. Then head to the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, behind which you could also walk.You will then travel along a stretch of southern coast between farms to the port of Landeyjahofn. Here you will embark on a ferry that in 30 minutes will take you to the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago, offering a panoramic view of the islands among a flutter of sea birds. With a little luck, you could also spot dolphins or seals. The destination is Heimaey, the largest island in the archipelago and the only inhabited area. With your vehicle you can go around the volcanic island, reaching various panoramic points. Visit the windy Storhofdi promontory which overlooks a superb view. From mid-May to early August this is also a good place to admire puffins. Also not to be missed is the climb to the top of the volcano which erupted only a few decades ago.Are you interested in history? Visit Virkid (The Fortress), a defensive structure built in the 16th century to protect the islanders from pirate invasions. Nearby you will find the beautiful reconstruction of the Norwegian-type wooden church that was located at that point in the Middle Ages.Enjoy the tranquility of these islands with a very special charm. Maybe you could take a dip in the local public swimming pool, whose waters of marine origin are heated geothermically.Overnight in the Vestmannaeyjar islands.
Approximate distance: 119 kmPowerful volcanoes - Monumental waterfall - Black sand beachesBreakfast at hotel. Take the ferry back from Vestmannaeyjar and continue your exploration of the south coast. Crossing of numerous glacial rivers along the path to the Skogafoss waterfall. This waterfall is one of the most photographed in the country. Take a few more minutes to enjoy the view and the rush of the water. A staircase to the side of the waterfall leads to a beautiful view of the south coast.Continue to the black sands of Reynisfjara beach. Here you can admire the powerful waves of the ocean and the unique shapes of the columnar basalt carved by the force of the sea. In the distance seen on the stacks that folklore wants to be petrified trolls.Overnight in the Vik area for 2 nights.
Approximate distance: 390 kmSkaftafell and the beauty of glaciers - Europe's largest glacier - Iceberg glacial lagoonBreakfast at hotel. Today you will find yourself in the area of the Vatnajokull National Park, the largest glacier in Europe. Before arriving at Vatnajokull, however, you will cross the Eldhraun, the largest lava field in the world, and the town of Kirkjubaejarklaustur, home to an important monastery in Catholic times. The first encounter with the Vatnajokull National Park you will do in Skaftafell, a beautiful valley surrounded by glaciers. A series of trails will lead you to fantastic viewpoints and various natural attractions, including the Svartifoss "black waterfall".Continue to the beautiful Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon to see the floating icebergs and maybe meet the curious gaze of some seals. To complete the visit you could also take a boat ride in the Jokulsarlon lagoon or in the quieter Fjallsarlon Iceberg Lagoon. (The boat ride is not however included in the tour price, but we will be happy to book one for you!)Before returning to the hotel, visit the famous Diamond Beach, black sand that shines with fragments of ice brought there by the ocean current.Overnight in the Vik area.
Approximate distance: 331 kmLively geysers and Golden waterfall - National park with geological wonders (UNESCO World Heritage Site)Breakfast at hotel. Start the day by heading to the thermal area of Geysir to see the famous Strokkur, a thermal spring that produces an impressive jet of water every few minutes. Continue on to Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most impressive waterfalls. The next stop is that of Thingvellir National Park, where the Viking foundation parliament met for centuries on the banks of Iceland's largest lake. This is also the place where you can see the border between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. We strongly recommend that you spend some more time visiting and take the paths that lead to various points of historical and naturalistic interest.After the visit to the park, you will be ready to go to Reykjavík, the lively Icelandic capital where you will have fun exploring its many gastronomic and cultural offerings. During the summer you can stay out late, taking advantage of the long days to visit the many interesting attractions (for example, Wonders of Iceland and FlyOver Iceland) or to take a whale-watching tour by boat.Overnight in Reykjavik.

Return by car to Keflavik international airport.If you have not yet visited the Blue Lagoon spas and have some free time before the flight, you may decide to take advantage of it when returning to the airport.
